Project Description

Development of a financial mechanism focused on lighting equipment for municipalities. Several models were analyzed, with a special focus in the context of South African municipalities, their financing and governance structures. The overall program will deploy USD 10m in grant funding from GEF in support mechanisms during the introduction of MEPS and labels.

The DBSA is a development finance institution wholly owned by the Government of South Africa that seeks to "play a pivotal role in delivering developmental infrastructure in South Africa and the rest of the African continent.” UNDP is the United Nations' global development network. It works in ca. 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.
